Jürgen Klopp is confident Diogo Jota will have a role to play in the final months of Liverpool’s 2022-23 season.

The forward has been absent since sustaining a calf injury against Manchester City at Anfield on October 16, but is making good progress in his rehabilitation programme.

"Diogo is extremely football smart, he will be football-wise back here again,” Klopp told reporters. “He is like playing the games without playing the games.

"I don't know exactly how long. He looks really good, he is out there on the pitch, he is doing a lot of stuff already, but another few weeks."

Asked whether Jota could be back in time for the Champions League last-16 tie with Real Madrid, Klopp added: "From my point of, yes, but I don't know."
