Raul: Jay has been fantastic
Raul Meireles has spoken of his admiration for Jay Spearing after his recent displays in the first XI.
The Academy graduate has filled in admirably for injured skipper Steven Gerrard and the Portugal international believes he is in the team on merit.
"Jay is a fantastic player and a fantastic teammate," Meireles told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"He has worked hard in training, he deserves his chance and he is doing well.
"He is a good lad off the pitch as well and I am pleased for him.
"I think it's good seeing some of the young lads getting a chance and for the future of the club it's important.
"I watch the reserves on LFC TV and there is a lot of quality."
