Dalglish's first game back was not the ideal start. Manchester United took a very early lead with a penalty from Ryan Giggs and Reds soon found themselves down to 10 men after captain Steven Gerrard received a straight red.
Blackpool 2 - 1 Liverpool
January 12, 2011 - Barclays Premier League
Dalglish's first Barclays Premier League game since his return ended in defeat despite an early Fernando Torres goal. However, the Seasiders responded to clinch a famous double for Ian Holloway.
Liverpool 2 - 2 Everton
January 16, 2011 - Barclays Premier League
The 215th Merseyside derby ended in a draw for Dalglish in his first home game back as manager. Even with no Jamie Carragher or Steven Gerrard, the Reds managed a point with goals from Raul Meireles and a Kop end penalty from Dirk Kuyt.

Dalglish secured his first three points since his re-appointment thanks to a fantastic strike from Raul Meireles and a double from Torres. The turnaround had begun.

An own goal from John Pantsil gave Liverpool their first back-to-back wins since November 2010. It elevates them to seventh place in the Barclays Premier League table.

January transfer Luis Suarez bagged his first goal for Liverpool after coming on as a second-half substitute. Meireles also continued his Dalglish-inspired purple patch by scoring his third goal in four games.
Chelsea 0 - 1 Liverpool

Portugese ace Meireles was the hero again, scoring the only goal at Stamford Bridge. Brilliant defending from Jamie Carragher denied debutant Fernando Torres his first goal since transferring to Chelsea. It was four consecutive wins for Dalglish now.

Suarez made his first start for Liverpool but the Reds only managed a point with a goal from Meireles, his fifth in six matches. Despite the draw, the Reds were lifted to sixth place in the table.
Sparta Prague 0 - 0 Liverpool
February 17, 2011 - Europa League
Dalglish's first European game in charge of the Reds was a freezing night in Prague. The match proved to be a tough encounter, but Liverpool did enough ahead of home advantage in the second leg.
Liverpool 1 - 0 Sparta Prague

The gaffer made four changes to his side from the first leg. The Reds struggled to make the breakthrough before a corner from Meireles found the man for the big occasion Dirk Kuyt who found the net to give Liverpool the victory in the 86th minute. It was a proud net for Dalglish as he secured his first European win in charge of the Reds.
West Ham 3 - 1 Liverpool

Liverpool's unbeaten run came to a halt against the Hammers. A late goal from Glen Johnson was not enough to keep Liverpool's hopes alive. Injuries to both Meireles and the in-form Martin Kelly completed a bad day at the office for the Reds.

March 6, 2011 - Barclays Premier League
Dirk Kuyt had a day to remember as he scored his first ever hat-trick for Liverpool against arch-rivals Manchester United. Luis Suarez was also in irresistible form and our record signing Andy Carroll also made his debut. Liverpool were back up to sixth place.

Liverpool endured their first European defeat of the season in Braga. Sotirios Kyrgiakos gave away a penalty which Braga's Brazilian midfielder Alan converted. Carroll made his entrance in the second half to give the Reds hope but they couldn't find that elusive away goal.

Andy Carroll made his first start but it was to turn into a frustrating night for Liverpool as they crashed out of Europe. Braga defended well and proved a tough obstacle for the Reds to break down.
Sunderland 0 - 2 Liverpool

By this stage Dalglish had instilled a new resilience in Liverpool ranks, and his team did not let the disappointment of dropping out of Europe get them down. Dirk Kuyt's penalty and a brilliant individual goal from Luis Suarez was a perfect way to respond.
West Brom 2 - 1 Liverpool

Although Martin Skrtel gave Liverpool the lead with a header from a Meireles cross, it was not enough. Liverpool gave away two penalties and injuries to Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson made it a double blow.

Dalglish managed to bring Liverpool back into contention for European football after a massive win at Anfield. A goal from Kuyt and two from Carroll brought the Reds five points behind fifth placed Tottenham again.

After a superb resilient display from King Kenny's men the game exploded into life in extra-time. An injury time penalty from Robin Van Persie looked to have stole the points, but straight up the other end Dirk Kuyt also netted from 12-yards after Eboue had impeded Lucas. Academy graduates John Flanagan and Jack Robinson excelled on a good day in North London.

Liverpool had a stellar performance against visitors Birmingham City. Maxi Rodriguez scored a hat-trick, and Kuyt and Joe Cole also added to the scoring. It brought Liverpool even closer to fifth place in the Barclays Premier League table.

Liverpool 3 - 0 Newcastle

Liverpool kept up their fight for Europe with another accomplished Anfield display. Maxi found the net again, Dirk Kuyt made it 2-0 before combining with the outstanding Luis Suarez for goal number three. The result saw Liverpool move ahead of Tottenham in fifth place.

Maxi scored his second hat-trick in successive weeks as Liverpool produced arguably one of their best displays of the season. King Kenny's team made an incredible start, scoring in the opening 30 seconds and going 3-0 up after 15 minutes. Dirk Kuyt continued his excellent scoring run, the unplayable Luis Suarez found the net again and it was a proud night for Jamie Carragher who moved up to second place in the all-time LFC appearances table with game 666.
