Shelvey hails Dalglish impact
Jonjo Shelvey believes the fact Liverpool head into the final weekend of the season with a chance of securing European football is a testament to the impact Kenny Dalglish has made since returning to the helm.
The Reds will seal a Europa League spot should they better Tottenham's result against Birmingham when the boss takes his men to Villa Park to do battle with Aston Villa on Sunday.
Liverpool were 12th in the table when Dalglish was appointed in January - and regardless of the outcome of this weekend's matches, Shelvey insists the Scot is deserving of great praise.
"In January, when the boss took over, you would not have expected us to be fifth come the end of the season," said the midfielder.
"I just think Kenny has got everyone going and you can tell around the place there is a massive team spirit and it is showing in our performances.
"He has got us passing and moving, which Liverpool fans want to see, and I think it is good because he has given a lot of youngsters a chance as well."
Shelvey has enjoyed an impressive debut season at Anfield since arriving from Charlton last summer - and he's relishing a successful future at the club.
The 19-year-old added: "He has said that I am in his plans. I have got a lot to look forward to.
"I am still a young boy, I'm still learning, which is why it is good to play with players like Steven Gerrard and Dirk Kuyt, and learn day in, day out from them."
