Jordan Henderson insists he will be fit and ready for the start of 2011-12 with Liverpool despite his participation in the European U21 Championships this summer.

The 20-year-old will play a key role for England in Denmark, starting with a clash against Spain on Sunday.

But he isn't concerned about tiredness after a season in which he played 40 senior games.

"I know there are managers and players worried about burnout and playing too much, but I feel fine after the season," said Henderson, whose transfer from Sunderland to Liverpool was confirmed on Liverpoolfc.tv on Thursday night.

"Yes, I've played a lot, but I've still got lots to give, still got energy. We are young and want to play football and can achieve something special for our country."

Henderson believes the tournament will not only aid HIS development, but also help usher in a new generation of players ready to feature for Fabio Capello's senior side.

He cites Germany's Mesut Ozil, Manuel Neuer, Sami Khedira and Jerome Boateng, who all progressed to be World Cup stars in South Africa after appearing in the Euro U21 Championships two years ago.

Henderson added: "Denmark is really important for the experience of playing at tournament level - it is something we have to get used to if we're going to win a World Cup or a Euro with the seniors.

"What the German U21 team did last time is an inspiration. Six of their team ended up in the World Cup squad and doing very well at the tournament. Everyone wants to produce good players. We have loads of talent who could come through to the seniors.

"At U21 level, we feel there is a process whereby you can get passed through the ranks. If you do well, Fabio Capello will notice - or Stuart Pearce will tell him. He goes to a lot of the games to watch us and that is important to all the players who play in the U21s."
