1. Doni's full name is Donieber Alexander Marangon, and he was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 22, 1979.
2. He shares a birthday with music artist Shaggy.
3. Doni made 179 appearances in six seasons at Roma (2005-11) - where he played alongside Alberto Aquilani and John Arne Riise.
4. He is the older brother of 22-year-old former Roma teammate João Paulo Fernando Marangon, who is a midfielder.
5. The 31-year-old made his Brazil debut in a friendly against Turkey in Dortmund, Germany on June 5, 2007 - to date he has 10 caps for the Brazil national team.
6. Moments before the 2007 Copa America, he was selected as Brazil's first choice goalkeeper, replacing Helton. He made two penalty saves against Uruguay in the semi-final. Brazil won the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Argentina in the final.
7. His height is 1.94m, that's six centimetres taller than Pepe Reina.
8. Before joining Roma, Doni started his career with Corinthians and then enjoy stints with before short spells with Santos, Cruzeiro and Juventude. In the recent past, he has been linked with moves to Manchester United and West Ham.
9. He becomes Liverpool's fifth ever Brazilian player, after Lucas Leiva, Fabio Aurelio, Vita Flora and fellow goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.
10. Doni has claimed his fair share of silverware throughout his career. With Corinthians he won the 2002 Brazilian Cup and Rio-Sao Paulo Tournament, as well as the Sao Paulo State Championship in 2003. At Roma, he was part of the side who won the Coppa Italia in 2007 and 2008, and the 2007 Supercoppa Italiana. He also has a Copa America winners' medal which he won with his national team in 2007.
