Martin Skrtel insists challenging for a return to the Champions League will be one of Liverpool's primary targets in 2011-12.

The Slovakia defender is optimistic Liverpool can build upon an impressive end to last season and be amongst the frontrunners for honors this term.

Skrtel told his official website: "Our plan for this season is simple as usual - to win everything we possibly can.

"I can promise our fans that we will do everything to have a better season than the last one. And yes, we want to fight for the Champions League spot.

"The end of last season went very well and I believe we can continue to perform. I truly believe we belong in the top four."

On a personal level, Skrtel has clinched just one major club honour during his professional career - a Russian league title with Zenit St Petersburg in 2007.

It's a statistic he's eager to change with Liverpool.

Skrtel added: "Obviously I have dreams left. I haven't won that many trophies.

"I want to win them all - that is my professional goal. I have some private dreams as well but I will keep them to myself."

Liverpool have been active in the transfer market this summer, bringing in Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Alexander Doni and Stewart Downing.

Only Adam has made his Reds bow so far, and Skrtel has been impressed with what he's witnessed from the Scot.

He said: "Not much has changed (in training), really. Everything works. I can see some new faces, though.

"He (Adam) is a great player and I fully trust our manager when it comes to new players."
