Liverpool Ladies have completed the signing of Bristol Academy and Wales captain, Sophie Ingle.

The 24-year-old, who previously played for Chelsea prior to her move to Bristol, joins the Reds with a wealth of experience in the Women’s Super League.

Ingle is a versatile player, able to play in defence or midfield, and was appointed as Wales’ new captain in February 2015.

On making the move, she said: “I am delighted to have signed for Liverpool Ladies and cannot wait for the new season to begin.

“Liverpool is a massive club and once I was aware of their interest, there was only one team I wanted to sign for.”

Ladies manager Scott Rogers said: “I am delighted to have signed Sophie as she is a real leader who I believe will be a crucial player for us next season.

“Sophie had many other offers from other WSL clubs so I am really pleased that she has chosen to sign for Liverpool Ladies.”
