Liverpool Ladies have completed the signing of England international Laura Coombs.

Ladies manager Scott Rogers has acquired the services of the highly-rated 24-year-old midfielder from Chelsea Ladies on a season-long loan deal.

Coombs is a combative central midfielder who came through the youth setup at Arsenal Ladies before loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Los Angeles Strikers.

Following her loan move abroad, she then joined Chelsea Ladies in 2011 before a loan spell with Barnet and another temporary move back to Los Angeles Strikers.

Last season, Coombs was involved with Chelsea Ladies as they secured a momentous FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Cup double.

On making the move to Liverpool, she said: “This is a fantastic move for me and I am really looking forward to the start of the season.

“I had a great year with Chelsea Ladies last season, winning the double, but this is a brilliant move for me and hopefully I can help Liverpool Ladies to improve on last season.”

Rogers said: “I am really pleased that we have managed to sign Laura on a season-long loan deal.

"She has been a player I have admired for a number of years and I’m sure she will be a crucial player for us next season.

“I know that a number of clubs were interested in signing Laura so I am delighted that she has chosen to join Liverpool Ladies. This is a really exciting signing for the club and I am sure it will help Laura’s international aspirations.”
