Liverpool Ladies are back in action on Monday afternoon as they look to build on their opening win over Birmingham as they face a tough away clash at reigning WSL Champions Chelsea.

The game, which kicks-off at 2pm is at Staines Town FC.

Captain Gemma Bonner is expecting a tough test for Scott Rogers' side but insists the Reds will be aiming for all three points in West London.

Bonner said: "We play in every game to win them and we have said we are taking each game as it comes. We know they are a great side, they are the champions and they also won the FA Cup, so it will be a tough game.

"For us, we always concentrate on ourselves and you could see the improvements and progression from our first game against Manchester City, so as always we will give it everything we have got and we will go there looking for the win."

England goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain believes the hard fought victory over Birmingham City Ladies can give Scott Rogers' side confidence going into the game.

Chamberlain said; "It was a very positive performance against Birmingham City Ladies and we have to take those positives into a big game against Chelsea on Monday, which we’re looking forward to now.

"We are under no illusions as to what a difficult game it will be as Chelsea are a great team but if we play to our potential on Monday then there is no reason as to why we can't get a positive result."

View from the opposition

England international Claire Rafferty insists Chelsea Ladies will do everything in their power to retain their FA Women's Super League title after beating Doncaster Rovers Belles 4-1 in their opening game.

The full-back says that Emma Hayes' side are determined to retain the WSL title after winning it for the first time last season commenting; “I feel like I’m holding the trophy and saying ‘no, I don’t want anyone to take it from us!’

“We know everyone’s going to want to beat us and in this league one loss or one draw can cost you, as we saw last season, so it’s important to get as many points as possible and win every game.

“Even the goal difference, it can come down to that, so we had that in mind coming into the game, trying to score as many goals as possible, because we know that later in the season that could be important.”

Last time out

The last time the two sides met was in September last year as an outstanding performance from Chelsea saw them win 4-0 at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes.

After a bright start from the Reds with both Ingrid Ryland and Gemma Bonner hitting the woodwork, Chelsea Ladies took the lead through Ji So-Yun who finished superbly past Libby Stout from Gemma Davison's pull back.

The Blues then doubled their lead through England international Fran Kirby five minutes before half-time before Eni Aluko added a third following a slip in the home side's defence.

An outstanding individual goal from South Korean international So-Yun then wrapped up the three points for the visitors as she superbly controlled Davison's cross before firing past Stout to make it 4-0.
