Liverpool Ladies showed their support for the FA's Girls' Football Week by visiting several schools in the North West alongside the LFC Foundation to promote the women's game locally.

Despite a hectic schedule featuring two WSL home games during the past week, several members of Scott Rogers’ squad visited schools to join in with coaching, as well as participating in Q&A sessions and handing out free tickets for last Wednesday's clash with Chelsea.

A number of the youngsters involved in Girls' Football Week were also invited onto the pitch at half-time during the narrow 2-1 defeat by the Londoners.

The week began with defender Shannon Beckwith assisting the Reds' official charity with coaching and also paying a visit to Broadgreen High School, while England international Siobhan Chamberlain went to see Lymm Rovers Juniors in Cheshire.

The LFC Foundation then visited The Heath School in Runcorn on Tuesday before England midfielder Laura Coombs dropped in at Cowley High in St Helens to join FA National development manager Rachel Pavlou.

Wales captain Sophie Ingle crossed the Mersey to Weatherhead High School in Wirral before the LFC Foundation returned to The Heath High School to work alongside a number of cluster primary schools.

England goalkeeper Chamberlain said of the week's activities: "It is fantastic to see so many young girls getting involved with Girls' Football Week.

"I was really impressed by not only the standard of football on show but also the knowledge of the girls about the game.”

Ingle added: “Women’s football is developing brilliantly and is now becoming an established sport where females can make a professional living.

"It is a real privilege for myself and the rest of the squad to be able to show our support for Girls' Football Week and hope that women’s football continues to go from strength to strength.”

Head of the LFC Foundation, Andrea Cooper, said: “This is another example of the great work that the LFC Foundation and its coaches carry out throughout the year.

"The women and girls programme is a really important part of the Foundation and has helped to engage with over 1000 youngsters over the past week.”
