Liverpool Ladies hosted a free open training session at the Select Security Stadium last weekend as a thank-you to the loyal supporters who have backed the team so far in the 2016 season.

Ladies season ticket holders were invited to watch the likes of Gemma Bonner, Shanice van de Sanden and Caroline Weir run through preparations for the restart of the Women’s Super League – when they travel to Manchester City Women this coming Sunday.

The day began with free giveaways before Scott Rogers’ side were put through their paces and official LFC mascot Mighty Red invited fans onto the pitch for a penalty shootout.

Supporters were then provided with an opportunity to collect signatures and pictures with members of the Reds team during a special signing session.

Ladies manager Rogers said: “It is fantastic to be able to invite our loyal supporters down to the stadium to see what the team does on a daily basis.

“In my opinion, we have the best supporters in the league so to be able to welcome them down to Widnes to meet the staff and players as a thank-you is the least we can do.”
