Liverpool Ladies duo Natasha Harding and Katie Zelem paid a special visit to St John Bosco School on Thursday to meet students from the LFC Foundation College as part of the college’s latest open evening.

The pair spoke with current and potential future students who were participating in a mini tournament for teams that included St Helens Girls, Formby Girls, LFC Foundation College and the winners on the evening, Maghull Girls.

After a short Q&A session the LFC Ladies stars congratulated the teams and presented Maghull with the LFC Foundation College tournament trophy with the Reds duo impressed by the skills, team work and enthusiasm on display.

The Liverpool FC Foundation College provides a unique learning experience for 16-19 year olds, offering the chance to progress in education and football. The college offers a range of courses and pathways into higher education, scholarships, employment, football and coaching.

On the visit to St John Bosco, Welsh international winger Harding said: "The LFC Foundation College is a great institution which not only offers young girls a chance to play football but to also further their education.

“The college recently visited America and Dubai on tour which shows the fantastic opportunities that are available to students who chose to study at the college.”

Carl Giles, head of education and sport at the Liverpool FC Foundation College added: "It is brilliant to be able to welcome Natasha and Katie down to meet students as they are big role models for our aspiring female footballers.

"Being able to have two professional female footballers from Liverpool Ladies FC visit the college is a great inspiration as students can see first-hand what they can achieve and aspire to be.”

Andrea Cooper, head of LFC Foundation said: “The LFC Foundation has witness great success over the last few years with 18 students recently offered their first choice universities starting in September 2016. 

“LFC Foundation College graduates are now studying at some of the finest institutions such as Loughborough University, Liverpool John Moores University and Durham University to become PE teachers and sport scientists.”
