Caroline Weir stars as Ladies beat Doncaster
Liverpool Ladies returned to winning ways and kept up their bid for a third-place finish in the Women's Super League with a 3-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers Belles on Sunday.
The Reds bounced back from defeat to their rivals for third - Birmingham City - last time out, as Caroline Weir bagged a brace and Natasha Harding also got on the scoresheet in a come-from-behind victory.
Scott Rogers' side were up against it from the off at the Keepmoat Stadium, losing midfielder Laura Coombs to injury after just 13 minutes.
And things went from bad to worse as the hosts carved out an early lead when a wicked set-piece delivery from the right-hand side was met by Rhiannon Roberts, who produced a flicked header into the far corner.
Liverpool responded well to that setback, though, and were unfortunate not to be level when Shanice van de Sanden's cross was so nearly touched home by Ashley Hodson.

That miss was then rendered inconsequential as Weir curled a beauty in from the edge of the box to restore parity - and she wasn't finished there, either.
The Scotland international doubled her tally just before the break, driving forward after her impressive turn had worked space before lofting home another stunning finish into the far corner.
The Reds dominated the second period, with Weir at the centre of much of their good work after her game-changing contributions in the first period.
But it was Harding, rather than the Scot, who added gloss to the scoreline late on, and in equally impressive fashion.
The 27-year-old found just enough space outside the area to open her body up and bend the ball into the top corner to leave the opposing goalkeeper stranded.
That strike all but sealed the points for the visitors, who will hope to round off their season by clinching third place when Arsenal visit Widnes on November 6.
