Liverpool Ladies Development Squad defender Amy Rodgers was named Young Sports Achiever of the Year at the 2016 Everybody Awards at Wrenbury Hall.

The annual event recognises the exceptional achievements of sporting and community heroes in Cheshire East.

More than 200 guests attended the awards ceremony, which was hosted by Natalie Pike and featured an inspiring keynote speech by racing driver Nicolas Hamilton.

In addition to being part of the Ladies set-up, Rodgers has represented her country as a regular member of the England U16 squad.

“2016 has been an incredible year for sport in Cheshire East with the Tour of Britain Stage 3 racing through our towns in September, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio showcasing sporting talent from our region,” said Peter Hartwell, who opened the event.
