The Reds' schedule for Milk Cup
Liverpool's Academy starlets have embarked on their pre-season trip to Northern Ireland, where they will contest the prestigious Milk Cup – and here's how the tournament is scheduled to unfold.
The Reds have sent two teams over for the competition - a group of U17 players will enter the premier tournament, while an U15 squad will look to win the junior section.
The system will be the same for both sides: they'll enter into a qualifying league table which consists of 20 teams.
Each side will face three opponents from their group - drawn at random by Brendan Rodgers and Raheem Sterling in Belfast back in April - over the duration of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
For the U17s, this means ties against local sides County Armagh, Chilean outfit O'Higgins FC and Newcastle United.
Meanwhile, the Reds' U15s have been drawn to face County Tyrone, Cavan & Monaghan DL and Southampton.
Following this first round of fixtures, the points haul and goal difference of each side will be collated - and the 20 teams are ranked from 1st to 20th. This is in order to determine which trophy they will then go on to play for.
Milk Cup - Sides ranked 1st to 4th will go onto the semi-finals of the Milk Cup.
Milk Cup Globe - Teams ranked 5th to 8th will vie for the NIMC Globe.
Milk Cup Vase - Those placed 9th to 12th enter the semis of the NIMC Vase.
Milk Cup Bowl - Sides who came 13th to 16th will contest the NIMC Bowl.
Milk Cup Plate - Teams who finished 17th to 20th will play for the NIMC Plate.
The games at premier level are scheduled to last for 70 minutes, while the Reds' U15s will play for 60 minutes in each of their games.
