Metro: Reds plan PSG star swoop
Liverpool have been given a late boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain striker Ezequiel Lavezzi, with rivals Napoli pulling out of the race.
The Reds have been linked with the Argentine international since the summer, but have yet to add to their squad in this month's transfer window.
However, Brendan Rodgers' side continue to be tipped to make at least one signing before Monday night's deadline and could yet move for Lavezzi after Napoli declared themselves out of the race.
"Though we love the player and his qualities, we are well stocked in the attacking department, both in terms of quantity and quality," sporting director Riccardo Bigon told Sky Italia.
"Lavezzi is not a necessity for us."
