Express: Reds to bid for Bundesliga star

Liverpool are lining up a bid for Schalke defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos, according to reports.

Bild claims that Brendan Rodgers is keen on bringing the Greece international to Anfield this summer.

Papadopoulos is currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, where he is looking to regain fitness following a long injury lay-off.

The 23-year-old is also capable of playing as a holding midfielder, and with just a year left on his current deal, would apparently be available for as little as £5million.

Schalke have just completed a permanent move for Manchester City's Matija Nastasic, which could spell the end of Papadopoulos' career at the Veltins-Arena.
