Liverpool 'cleared to seal Thiago deal'
Thiago Motta has said he is ‘open’ to a transfer away from Paris Saint-Germain, with Liverpool reportedly ready to move for the midfielder.
The Italy international has made 116 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit since arriving in 2012, but appears keen on leaving this summer.
PSG’s president, though, has reiterated that Motta is not for sale and will stay in the French capital until his contract expires next year.
Motta responded: “I know my importance in the team, but the club don’t think like that.
“I respect what the president has said, even if I don’t agree with him. The transfer window is open. We’re going to see – I’m open to every situation.
“We have to find an agreement for the good of the club. The important thing is not me, the hierarchy, or the players. The important thing is the club.
“I don’t like to speak like that – I always talk about the team. But now we have a situation where I have to think about myself.”
Brendan Rodgers is believed to be an avid admirer of the 32-year-old, and he could be tempted to make a bid before the transfer window is up.
