Reds linked with January swoop for Valdes
Liverpool are reported to be lining up a surprise move for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes when the transfer window opens.
The former Barcelona star has fallen out with United boss Louis van Gaal and came close to leaving Old Trafford before the closure of the summer transfer window.
Valdes is currently third in line behind David de Gea, who has just penned a new deal, and Sergio Romero, so his future with United looks to be over.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers signed Adam Bogdan in the summer, and although he was the hero in the penalty shootout win over Carlisle, he wants more experienced cover for Simon Mignolet and could turn to Valdes.
Chelsea are also said to be in the hunt as Thibaut Courtois is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines and Jose Mourinho wants cover for current number one Asmir Begovic.
