Liverpool are interested in signing Rapid Wien centre-back Maximilian Hofmann.

Italian news website Calciomercato claim the 22-year-old is a long-term target for Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp is said to have tracked the defender while he was manager at Borussia Dortmund and is now ready to bring him to Anfield.

Liverpool are set to be without Dejan Lovren for a few weeks after he suffered a knee injury in the 2-2 draw with West Brom at the weekend.

After the match, Klopp bemoaned the number of goals his side are conceding from set pieces.

“It feels as though 98 per cent of the goals we concede are from set pieces!,” he said.
