Klopp: No Joel Matip deal for Liverpool yet
Jurgen Klopp insists that Liverpool have yet to agree a deal for Schalke defender Joel Matip.
The Reds are keen on securing the services of the Cameroon international centre-back, who is out of contract this summer.
However, there is little chance of signing Matip during the current transfer window.
Steven Caulker, who arrived on loan from QPR this week, is seen as a short-term measure until the end of the season when Liverpool hope to land Matip on a free transfer.
Talks with the 24-year-old’s representatives are ongoing.
Matip is weighing up his options after rejecting Schalke’s offer of a new deal.
Asked about reports that Matip was Anfield-bound, Klopp said: “At the moment we have nothing to say about it.
“If and when something is agreed we will speak about it but nothing yet, nothing else to say.”
