Reds table offer for Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Alex Teixeira
Liverpool have tabled an offer of £24.5million for Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian attacker Alex Teixeira.
Reds chief executive Ian Ayre missed Wednesday night's FA Cup replay win over Exeter City after flying to Florida to hold negotiations with the Ukrainian club.
Shakhtar are currently at a winter training camp in the States and Teixeira was left out of the squad for their midweek friendly with Corinthians.
Liverpool are willing to pay 32million euros to secure the signing of the 26-year-old. However, Shakhtar insist they value the player at around 50million euros (£38.5million).
Teixeira has netted 22 times in 15 league games this season and Chelsea have also been heavily linked with a move with the forward, who began his career at Vasco da Gama before signing for Shakhtar in 2009.
If Ayre can complete a deal for Teixeira then he will become the fourth Brazilian on the club's books, joining fellow countrymen Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Leiva and Firmino at Liverpool.
