Liverpool are moving closer to capturing the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira, according to reports.

According to the Daily Mirror reports in Ukraine claim Teixeira has now agreed personal terms with the Reds.

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre tabled an opening £24million bid for the forward during face to face talks with Shakhtar officials in Florida on Wednesday.

But the Reds will need to improve their offer as the Ukrainian club value the Brazilian, who was also interesting Chelsea, at £38m.

Shakhtar are keen to keep the forward, who has scored 22 goals in 15 league games so far this season, until at least this summer.

Yesterday the 26-year-old admitted that both Liverpool and Chelsea were interested in signing him.

Speaking to Brazilian newspaper Globo he said: "I am aware that two big clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea are interested but I haven’t given my word to either of them.

"I am not ruling out other leagues but I do want to play in the Premier League."
