The joy of six for Reds in Valentine's Day massacre
Liverpool celebrated St Valentine's Day in style with a stunning six-goal demolition of struggling Aston Villa.
It was the Reds' biggest ever win at Villa Park as Jurgen Klopp's side ran riot.
Daniel Sturridge marked his first Premier League start since October with the opening goal and James Milner's free-kick made it 2-0 before the break.
In the second half Liverpool were relentless as Emre Can, substitute Divock Origi and Nathaniel Clyne all netted before Kolo Toure ended his long wait for a first Liverpool goal.
After a slow start, the visitors came to life and broke the deadlock in the 16th minute.
Coutinho provided the cross from wide on the left and Sturridge took advantage of some horrendous marking as he gleefully nodded home from six yards out. It was the striker's first Premier League goal since September and his first away from home since the 6-3 win at Cardiff in March 2014.
Once in front, Liverpool dominated and they doubled their lead in the 25th minute.
Milner swung a free-kick into the penalty area from wide on the left. Mamadou Sakho climbed highest but didn't get a touch and it evaded everyone before nestling in the far corner.
Just before the break it took a fine save from Bunn to keep out Sturridge's curler.
In the second half Liverpool stepped up a gear and Villa crumbled - conceding four goals in the space of just 13 minutes.
First, Firmino teed up Can, who took a touch to steady himself and then hammered into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
Origi replaced Sturridge and the young Belgian needed just 37 seconds to make his mark. Latching on to Coutinho's through ball, Origi held his nerve and tucked it past Bunn.
On 65 minutes it was 5-0. After Clyne's shot was parried, Origi was bundled over as he tired to tuck away the follow up but it mattered little as Clyne forced it home.
Kevin Stewart made his league debut in place of Coutinho and Liverpool soon added a sixth.
Toure headed home Henderson's corner to complete a remarkable demolition job.
