Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Belgian wonderkid Samuel Bastien, according to reports in Italy.

The 19-year-old Anderlecht starlet has been on the Reds' radar ever since he broke into the club's first team last season.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Serie B side Avellino, where he has scored twice in 24 appearances and Juventus, Roma and Fiorentina are all currently considering a move to sign him this summer.

However, Calciomercato have claimed that the trio of Italian sides are currently trailing Liverpool in the race to snap him up.

Reds scouts have frequently watched the Belgium Under-21 international and it has been suggested that the Merseyside club are ready to stump up the £5.2m asking price to land him when the window opens.

Bastien would join a strong contingent of Belgians at Anfield with Simon Mignolet, Christian Benteke and Divock Origi already first-team players under Jurgen Klopp.
