I had talks with Klopp says international midfielder
Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski has confirmed he has held talks with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp over a potential summer move to Anfield.
The Poland international is on a season-long loan at Empoli and the Reds have scouted him extensively in Serie A this season.
“There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool,” Zielinski said.
“Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks. There was contact, I do not deny that.
“I’m not thinking too much about it right now though.
“I’ve still got a few games to play for Empoli and after that there is still the Euros in France.”
The 21-year-old midfielder scored in Empoli’s 2-0 Serie A win over Fiorentina at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says Liverpool transfer target Mario Gotze hasn’t given the club any indication that he wants to leave this summer.
Klopp is keen to sign the Germany international, who played under him at Borussia Dortmund and is nearing the final year of his contract.
Gotze has found his opportunities limited at Bayern and Liverpool believe they could land him for around £20million to £25million.
“We are in the important weeks of the season, so we concentrate on the here and now,” Rummenigge said.
“This is all that counts. When all the games are done, Mario is invited to come to my office and speak with Bayern on his future.
“Everything else is speculative. Neither Mario nor his agent has expressed themselves about this subject.”
