Bid being prepared for Argentine star
Liverpool's European scout has reportedly given the club the green light to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore.
According to magazine France Football, Reds scout Kevin Hunt was sent to assess PSG youngster Mamadou Doucoure last week.
Hunt watched the Ligue 1 champions' 4-0 demolition of Rennes on Friday in the hope that Doucoure would play.
However, his eye was caught by Argentine Pastore as 17-year-old Doucoure was overlooked by manager Laurent Blanc.
According to the claims, Hunt reported back to Liverpool that Pastore is worth chasing this summer.
PSG are reportedly willing to offload the 26-year-old for around £19.6million.
He has struggled to secure regular game time in Paris since Angel Di Maria's arrival from Manchester United last summer.
Italian giants Juventus are also reportedly keen on landing Pastore, although Liverpool will have greater financial strength once the Premier League's new £5.1billion TV deal kicks in this summer.
Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to have earmarked Pastore as a transfer target for the offseason.
But Liverpool's active scouting of the player could ensure manager Jurgen Klopp gets his man.
