Bayern legend tells Gotze to join Liverpool
Former Bayern Munich defender and manager Franz Beckenbauer has urged Mario Gotze to join Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
Gotze, who has struggled for form at Bayern since making his €37million from Dortmund in 2013, has been widely tipped to leave the club this summer after falling down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena.
The 23-year-old has failed to hold down a regular first-team spot under Pep Guardiola and, according to reports in Germany, has already been told by Carlo Ancelotti that he is not part of his plans for next season.
Now Franz Beckenbauer, a man who made over 400 appearances for Bayern as well as managing the team on two separate occasions, has told the 23-year-old to follow Jurgen Klopp to Anfield this summer.
"I would, in his place, go to a place where I feel comfortable," Beckenbauer told Sky Deutschland.
"I have the impression that Mario has not felt right in Munich and also has not been understood, so that he could show his full potential.
"I would in his place go where I am comfortable and follow in the footsteps of Jurgen Klopp."
