Loris Karius move nears as goalkeeper undergoes medical
Loris Karius will become a Liverpool player this week after arriving on Merseyside to finalise his £4.7m transfer from Mainz.
The German goalkeeper will undergo a medical over the next 24 hours after the Reds agreed a deal with the Bundesliga club. His signing, though, is unlikely to be confirmed until Tuesday evening at the earliest.
The 22-year-old will provide competition for current No.1 Simon Mignolet, after catching the eye with Mainz during the past four years.
Karius spent two years with Manchester City as a teenager and will, providing there is no issue with his medical, become Liverpool's third arrival of the summer, joining Joel Matip and Marko Grujic, who agreed moves in January.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to add further to his squad in the coming weeks. Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze is a key target, as is Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud, as Klopp looks to raid the Bundesliga.
Leicester full back Ben Chilwell is also on the club's radar.
