Director denies Liverpool offer for Hector
FC Koln have denied reports that Liverpool have made an offer for defender Jonas Hector, but revealed they would accept £24million.
Hector has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, with website ThisIsAnfield claiming a fee had been agreed over the weekend.
The report said a £12million bid had been accepted by Koln with the German club already preparing for Hector's departure by signing Filip Mladenovic in January.
However, Koln sporting director Jorg Schmadtke has denied the reports, but suggested he would accept double the offer - £24m.
"There's nothing in it. There is no question of an offer from Liverpool," he told German newspaper Express.
"If someone comes up with double [the offer], then I might answer the phone.
"But I believe that Jonas plays in the new season with us."
Hector is under contract with Koln until June 2018 and had a solid season making 34 appearances in all competitions last term.
He will also feature at Euro 2016 for Germany and is Joachim Low's first choice left-back after Borussia Dormtund's Marcel Schmelzer failed to make the cut.
