Klavan close to joining Liverpool
Liverpool are close to signing centre-back Ragnar Klavan from German side Augsburg, according to Sky sources.
The Reds are expected to pay £4.2m plus add-ons for the Estonia captain, who played in both legs of last season's Europa League tie against Liverpool and would become Jurgen Klopp's fourth summer signing.
Klopp is in the market for a defender with Kolo Toure no longer at the club and Mamadou Sakho set to miss the start of the Premier League season as he recovers from an Achilles injury.
Joel Matip was brought in on a free transfer earlier this summer and started Sunday's friendly at Wigan alongside Dejan Lovren.
Matip was replaced towards the end of that game after a foot problem recurred, but Klopp does not expect the injury to disrupt the Cameroon international's pre-season.
Sadio Mane - a £36m signing from Southampton - and German goalkeeper Loris Karius are the other new arrivals at Anfield as Klopp prepares for his first full season in charge.
The Reds' Premier League opener is away at Arsenal on August 14, live on Sky Sports.
