Nathaniel Clyne is set to join Liverpool teammate Adam Lallana in missing England's forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Interim Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate will name the squad tonight for the games against Malta and Slovenia next week.

And Clyne, who featured in Liverpool's 2-1 win at Swansea City on Saturday, is expected to miss out with a knee injury.

Southgate will already be without Lallana, who limped out of the game at the Liberty Stadium in the first half having injured his groin.

Clyne has been struggling with the injury over the past few weeks and is now poised to be withdrawn from consideration.

Liverpool were further in the wars in South Wales with Dejan Lovren likely to miss out for Croatia this week having also suffered a groin problem towards the end of the Reds' triumph.

Jurgen Klopp's side are next in action a fortnight on Monday when they entertain bitter North West rivals Manchester United.
