Liverpool and Arsenal scout Serie A striker
Arsenal and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Genoa striker Leonardo Pavoletti, according to reports in Italy.
The 27-year-old was playing in Serie B with Varese just two years ago, netting 24 times in 39 games during their failed play-off bid in the 2013/14 campaign.
His impressive form saw him attract interest from Championship side Leeds, with Football Italia claiming he flew to England for talks and had a tour of the team’s training ground.
But he opted against a move to Elland Road and signed for Genoa instead, where he has scored 22 goals in 40 appearances.
However, his fine goalscoring form has now alerted Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool, who Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb claim is interested in the striker.
It is said both clubs sent scouts to watch the Italian in action after checking out Sassuolo hitman Gregoire Defrel - who they’ve apparently scouted three times already.
The Gunners and the Reds are flush with firepower up-front, so Pavoletti would not be guaranteed a starting spot.
Pavoletti earned his first call-up to the Italian national side in August, but is yet to make his debut for the Azzurri.
