Liverpool have moved to top of the Premier League after thrashing Watford at Anfield.

Liverpool took the lead just before the half-hour mark through Sadio Mane, who headed home from a Philippe Coutinho free-kick.

And three minutes later Coutinho turned goalscorer with an effort from outside the box, cutting in on his right foot from the left after a neat pass from Roberto Firmino.

Reds midfielder Emre Can made sure the hosts went in at half-time 3-0 up with a close-range header from an Adam Lallana cross on the right flank.

Firmino got his name on the scoresheet on 57 minutes when Lallana delivered a low cross from the left, leaving the Brazilian with an easy tap-in from two yards.

Mane made it five moments later. This time Firmino battled Watford defender Jose Holebas for the ball in the box before squaring it to Mane to complete his brace.

Watford's Daryl Janmaat pulled one back with 15 minutes left on the clock but it proved nothing but a consolation goal as Liverpool bagged another in stoppage time.
