Liverpool target likely to leave in January
Liverpool target Gabriel Barbosa faces being cut from Inter Milan’s squad in January, his manager has confirmed.
Liverpool are said to be chasing Gabriel as his nightmare spell in Milan continues.
The Brazil international has played less than 90 minutes of football since his £26million transfer from Santos in the summer.
Gabriel’s agent has already confirmed the player could quit Inter after failing to get assurances over his future in Stefano Pioli’s side.
And Pioli himself has now suggested Gabriel - nicknamed Gabigol - may be axed next month.
"I am happy at the enthusiasm for Gabigol, but I'd like to see him make some moves that are more useful and not just spectacular for the sake of being spectacular,” Pioli told Mediaset Premium [football-italia].
"Will he remain? We are evaluating the situation. Our first objective in January is to whittle down the squad, because we want players who are happy to be at a big club like Inter.
"We are Inter, proud to be a big team and will go forward only with those who share that view."
Gabriel’s agent Wagner Ribeiro, meanwhile, said: "We would like Gabigol remain at Inter but Pioli will decide.
“He must remain at Inter and win, or go on loan in Serie A. He can not go back to Brazil.”
And Gabriel himself yesterday tweeted a picture of him playing for Inter with the phrase “So beautiful” in relation to his appearance as a late substitute in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Lazio.
