Liverpool ready January move for Arsenal star
Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a move for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Jurgen Klopp wants to ensure Liverpool’s strong start to the season continues at the turn of the year and fresh talent will bolster his squad.
Liverpool will be without Sadio Mane next month with the Senegalese set to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations.
And in order to fill the void, Klopp wants to bring Oxlade-Chamberlain to Anfield, The Guardian claim.
The report suggests they are keeping tabs on his availability, although they face a tough task in prising him away from their title-challenging rivals.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has been in and out of Arsene Wenger’s starting XI this term and that has left the attacker frustrated.
He has 18 months remaining on his current deal and talks are thought to not yet have started over extending his contract.
The Guardian suggest the England international could be tempted to join Klopp’s side with the German making good progress since his arrival on Merseyside, as he attempts to win Liverpool their maiden Premier League title.
Wenger is keen to keep hold of Oxlade-Chamberlain but he hasn’t helped matters by only handing the 23-year-old eight Premier League starts this season.
A fee of around £20m-£25m has been mooted for the former Southampton man.
