Liverpool set for Tenerife return
Jurgen Klopp is planning to whisk his Liverpool squad away to Tenerife for another warm-weather training camp later this month.
Those players not on international duty will travel to the Spanish island during the next round of World Cup qualifiers, which will take place over the final weekend in March.
Liverpool spent five days in La Manga last month when they were without a game for 16 days following their early exit from the FA Cup.
That failed to reap instant rewards given Monday’s dire 3-1 defeat at Leicester City, but Klopp believes the trip will prove beneficial in the long term.
The scheduled break to Tenerife would be a repeat of last year’s trip, when Klopp and his available players – along with their partners and families – jetted out during the March international break for a week-long stay.
It will also represent a chance for some younger players to impress the Reds boss, with the squad bolstered by the youth ranks in the absence of Liverpool’s international representatives.
Ovie Ejaria caught Klopp’s attention during last year’s visit, while last month both Conor Masterson and Yan Dhanda travelled with the first-team squad to La Manga.
