Barcelona face competition from Liverpool to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester, according to reports.

Riyad Mahrez was voted as the PFA Player of the Year award last season for his heroics with Leicester as they went on to win the title.

The Algeria international was also the highest placed Premier League star in the latest Ballon d'Or, finishing above the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in seventh.

His exploits for Leicester last season led many to believe he would leave in the summer with Arsenal and Barcelona both expressing an interest.

But the 26-year-old opted to sign a new four-year deal at Leicester worth £100,000 a week.

However, Spanish newspaper Sport claim Barcelona will return with a bid this summer with Liverpool also interested.

The report claims the Reds have already made an approach to sign Mahrez along with Juventus but he wants to move to Barcelona.

Leicester are just six points above the relegation zone this season with safety far from guaranteed.

And Mahrez is reportedly ready to leave the King Power stadium this summer.

But any team will need to spend roughly £34million to acquire his services from the Foxes.
