Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Atletico Madrid's teenage defender Theo Hernandez this summer.

The 19-year-old France U20 international came up through the youth ranks at Vicente Calderon but has yet to make a first-team appearance and is currently on a season-long loan with fellow La Liga club Alaves.

The left-back has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Babazorros this term and has been linked with both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Hernandez has a 24million euros release clause in his contract which would not be a problem for any of those interested in signing him.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp could tempt the youngster with the guarantee of regular first-team action at Anfield.
