Reds bid to strike Dortmund hitman deal
Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over a possible move for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been heavily linked with a swoop for the 28-year-old Gabon international striker, who has scored 85 goals in 128 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund, including 31 goals in 32 outings last term.
Klopp knows all about Aubameyang given that he signed him for Dortmund from St Etienne in summer 2013 and the German would be keen on a reunion at Anfield as Liverpool have Champions League football back on the agenda.
However, it is being reported that the Reds' owners Fenway Sports Group are baulking at the £65million asking price and the player's £180,000-a-week wage demand.
That could pave the way clear for Premier League rivals Chelsea to make a move as they look to take Aubameyang having lost out to Manchester United in the race to sign Everton hitman Romelu Lukaku.
