AC Milan's Suso reveals clause and talks Liverpool

Suso spent the formative years of his career with the Reds having been snapped up as a 16-year-old from Cadiz in 2010.

The Spaniard went on to make 21 appearances and score one goal under Brendan Rodgers before moving to AC Milan six months before his contract expired in January 2015 for £1million.

Suso, now 24, has emerged as a key player for the Serie A side, an ever-present in the last two seasons and helping them to successive Europa League qualifications.

But reflecting on his time at Liverpool, the player has expressed a desire to once again play for the Reds.

“In a sense I became a man before I became a footballer,” said Suso. “It was very hard with the lifestyle and language.

“But to this day I remember everything. I did not play that much but I got to know Steven Gerrard and be a teammate of players such as Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho and Jamie Carragher. I’ll never forget my experience at Liverpool.

“Premier League football is different, I would call it special: I would like to play for Liverpool again some day. I grew up there and it is a big club.”

Suso, who has a release clause of £35million in his contract, is being monitored by several clubs.

But speaking to the Guardian, he said: “I’m very happy at Milan. Always when there are rumours about me leaving I reiterate that I am happy here and I think the club is with me.

“I have a release clause and that was something both the club and my agent wanted. If the club wants to continue to be among the top sides and count on me then I am here for them."

Contemplating Liverpool's forthcoming Champions League final in Real Madrid, Suso added: “My heart is torn: if Real Madrid win it will make me happy because it is a Spanish team winning but then if Liverpool win I will be equally happy because it is my former club.”
