Nabil Fekir agent opens up on Liverpool links
Nabil Fekir’s agent insists he has not travelled to Liverpool for talks and has warned Jurgen Klopp’s side that they could be beaten in the race to sign the Lyon midfielder.
On Sunday, reports claimed that Fekir’s representative Jean-Pierre Bernes was due to arrive in England to finalise negotiations over a £70 million deal.
But Bernes is adamant that he has not left France this weekend and while he admits Liverpool are interested in the 24-year-old, he suggests a switch to Anfield is far from certain.
Bernes has also revealed that Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has not reached an agreement with Liverpool.
"I did not leave Marseille [this weekend], I am with my family, but I will be clear, we will go with Nabil to Liverpool or elsewhere when there is an agreement with Lyon and if Jean-Michel Aulas gives the green light," Bernes told Le Progres.
"Liverpool’s interest exists, but for the moment nothing is done and other clubs could come in. ‘The window will be long."
Last week, Fekir admitted he is open to joining Liverpool, while Klopp is keen to improve his attacking options after Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona in January. Fekir is currently with France’s national team preparing for their World Cup campaign.
