Man Utd to rival Liverpool for Nabil Fekir
Manchester United could be set to make a sensational swoop for Liverpool target Nabil Fekir, Lyon's president has hinted.
Jurgen Klopp appeared set to continue his summer spending with a £53million move for the France international earlier this month, only for the Ligue 1 side to cancel negotiations at the last minute.
Fekir had agreed a five-year deal worth £140,000-a-week at Anfield, but it now looks as though Jose Mourinho could also be interested in the talented playmaker.
"I was with Jose Mourinho the other day. We had long discussions," Jean-Michel Aulas told beIN Sports.
"Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool. At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup."
Fekir, who scored 23 goals for Lyon last season and is part of France's World Cup squad in Russia, had been identified as a long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho by Liverpool.
Aulas added: "It was expected at a certain point for him to go to Liverpool. I gave the green light. It did not happen because things were dragged out too long."
Manchester United, meanwhile, have already begun another summer of big spending after bringing in Diogo Dalot from Porto and Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.
