Liverpool's transfer deadline day plans: The likely signings and exits
Liverpool expect a quiet end to the January transfer window, with only minor outgoings anticipated before this evening’s deadline.
Only a long-term injury issue could have forced Jürgen Klopp to reconsider his stance that the Reds’ squad did not need adding to this month.
And with the likes of Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the comeback trail, his options are set to be boosted significantly in the coming weeks without signings.
That leaves a couple of potential exits to be wrapped up, with a Ben Woodburn loan departure the most likely.
The Welshman’s disappointing stay at Sheffield United was brought to an early end this month, but it is thought that Hull City are keen to snare him until the end of the season.
Lazar Markovic could also finally leave Anfield six months ahead of the expiry of his contract.
The Serbian is believed to have attracted interest from Mexico, though it remains to be seen whether he will hold tight to see out the rest of his Reds deal.
The futures of Joel Matip, Alberto Moreno and Adam Lallana will likely become clearer in the summer.
In terms of future incomings, Klopp is likely to add flexible defensive cover should Moreno and Matip depart, while a centre-forward - possibly Timo Werner of RB Leipzig - could also be required in the summer in the event of Origi and Sturridge following Dominic Solanke out of the door.
