Reds send scouts to watch teenage goalkeeper
Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly set to do battle for the signature of one of the hottest young prospects in European football.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims that the two clubs sent scouts to watch 18-year-old goalkeeper Berke Ozer ahead of a possible swoop for the player in the summer transfer window.
Ozer was playing in the U21 derby match between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, during which he kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw.
Ozer was linked with a switch to Manchester City before he joined Fenerbahce from his boyhood club Altinordu in a €2.5m deal.
Whilst he has only made one appearance for the senior side thus far, he regularly plays for Turkish youth national teams and has looked particularly impressive in recent months.
Although he is under contract until June 2022 at Fenerbahce, a big money bid would probably be enough for them to be tempted into selling their young star.
It remains to be seen which club will make the first move for Ozer, or indeed whether a bidding war will materialise as the two bitter rivals look to get one over each other.
He came through the same Altinordu academy that produced the likes of Cengiz Under and Leicester's Caglar Soyuncu.
Fenerbahce are currently languishing down in 14th position in the Turkish Super Lig, only six points above the relegation zone.
