Liverpool are weighing up a move for Werder Bremen striker Max Kruse but will face competition from Bayern Munich, according to reports in Germany.

The 31-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Bundesliga, scoring 11 goals and registering nine assists for Werder who finished 8th in the table and he will be available on a free transfer this summer once his contract has expired.

That news has alerted Jurgen Klopp who is keen to reinforce his attacking options ahead of next season.

As well as establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most efficient finishers with 71 goals over the last seven seasons, Kruse’s creativity and pressing qualities would suit Liverpool’s style of play.

Kruse, who has been capped 14 times by Germany since his debut in 2013, also has admirers in the shape of Bayern Munich who are seeking an alternative to Robert Lewandowski in attack following the departure of Sandro Wagner to Tianjin Teda in January.
