Klopp was 'keen on Franck Ribery transfer this summer'
Liverpool were reportedly close to making a surprise move to sign 36-year-old winger Franck Ribery this summer.
Ribery is out of contract with Bayern Munich and currently searching for a new club.
And according to French publication L'Equipe Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was tempted into pursuing a move for the player.
However, with not many outgoings so far this summer for the Reds it appears he decided in the end his squad has enough going forward without the need for Ribery.
Liverpool already boast one of the most threatening attacking trios in world football in Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino, with Divock Origi a capable back-up and the likes of youngsters Rhian Brewster and Ryan Kent likely to see more first-team opportunities next season.
Ribery, however, would certainly have brought experience and a winning mentality to the team. During his 12 seasons with Munich he scored 124 goals in 425 appearances and helped the side win an astonishing nine Bundesliga titles, one Champions League and six German Cups amongst others.
Now, however, he will have to consider other options for a new team, with Ribery still clearly believing he has enough left in him for at least one more season of football.
