Liverpool to challenge Manchester United for Jadon Sancho
Dietmar Hamann has backed Liverpool to make a move for Jadon Sancho in the next summer transfer window.
Manchester United have been the most heavily linked Premier League side to Sancho and have reportedly been quoted over £90million by Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho has transformed into one of football’s hottest commodities since ditching Manchester City for Dortmund and Dietmar Hamann claims his former side will be one of the Englishman’s main suitors next summer.
"What I hear is that Liverpool has great interest. I would imagine that next summer they could become one of the biggest interested parties," he told Sky Germany.
"He’s from Manchester City and I do not know if he would come back again, and it’s a thing for Manchester United, too, if they’ve ever been to the rivals."
Sancho is under contract at Dortmund until 2022 and has scored 18 times and provided 30 assists in 66 appearances for the German side.
At 19, Sancho could cost upwards of £100m and Hamann admitted any monster fee would put Liverpool off.
"Sancho does not have a release clause. If Dortmund say that they want an astronomical amount, it will not happen," Hamann said.
"There are currently few players that could reinforce [Liverpool’s] offensive [lineup].
"I don't know if Sancho’s such a player, but maybe if there’s one going away from those three, then Sancho would be predestined for this offensive alliance."
