Liverpool identify Dayot Upamecano as top transfer target
Liverpool have reportedly placed Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano at the top of their shortlist of targets in central defence.
The Premier League champions have been plunged into a potential crisis at the back following injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Joe Gomez and Joel Matip is now the only recognised senior centre-back available to Jurgen Klopp.
Inexperienced duo Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams have stepped up impressively in recent weeks and Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum could be used as emergency options alongside Matip.
